2008 Comedy Movies

2008 Comedy Movies

2008 comedy movies

If you love comedy, you should check out these films from 2008. Among the best comedies of the year include "Trainwreck" by Judd Apatow, "In Bruges" by John C Reilly, and Tropic Thunder by Martin Brody. If you enjoy dark comedies, there are even some very dark comedy movies. Read on for more information! We've rounded up the best comedies of 2008, including the latest films from Judd Apatow, Will Ferrell, and more.

Will Ferrell

When you think of Will Ferrell in 2008 comedy movies, you probably don't think of Nicole Kidman. The actor and director reunite for another film in which Ferrell plays a dad who is a little sleepy, allowing Wahlberg to do the bulk of the comedy. The resulting comedy, "The Other Guys," is so sleepy, it's hard to remember it was even filmed. It's a wacky comedy, but it's still worth a watch, if only for the performances.

John C Reilly

While a long-time actor, John C Reilly continued to build his reputation as a fine actor with two films in 2008, including The Sisters Brothers, and a supporting role in Paul Thomas Anderson's The Big Sick. In the latter film, Reilly plays the softer side of a pair of assassins, Eli Sisters, who grows tired of his unpredictable brother Charlie (Joaquin Phoenix).

Martin Brody

In one of the best comedic roles in the history of the cinema, Martin Brody played the lovable shark. His clever trick involved using a power cable to electrocute a shark. As the shark dies, Brody and his friends return to Earth. They are reunited in Cable Junction, where Brody helps the teenagers. During the film, Brody is also hailed as one of the best actors in the industry.

Judd Apatow

For the past two decades, Judd Apatow has been one of the most prominent names in comedy, making some of the most funniest films on the big screen today. And while "Anchorman 2" may be a bloated misfire, the cast is nothing short of stellar. Here are my top three picks for Apatow's comedy movies. They're listed from worst to best, in no particular order.

Jason Segel

As a co-star of the hit television show "How I Met Your Mother," Jason Segel has a long list of roles in both comedy and drama films. He first found success in 2000's "Freaks and Geeks," which was canceled after one season, but built up a cult following and established Segel's talent. He was part of a cast that also included James Franco and Seth Rogen.

Mila Kunis

After her breakthrough role in the 2008 comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Kunis branched out into more film roles. She starred alongside Natalie Portman in the thriller Black Swan, and in 2009, she teamed up with Denzel Washington in the drama Book of Eli. Both films earned her a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress. Kunis has a wide range of film roles, so her career is sure to keep growing.

Russell Brand

While you may not know the actor's name, you might have heard him from 2008 comedy movies. He appeared in big-budget comedies like Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him to the Greek. In addition to comedy movies, Russell Brand has voiced characters in movies, including Despicable Me and 'Arthur.' Unfortunately for fans, the actor has fallen out of favor in recent years. However, it's not all bad. There are some notable reasons why the actor hasn't been in movies for so long.
